Pricing, bench time and paperwork for the maker behind every piece.

Every Piece tracks your hours and materials while you work, then turns them into a price you can stand behind — retail, wholesale, or consignment. Built by a working bench jeweller.

No app store needed — installs from your browser. Works offline at the bench.

The app’s Price screen for an opal commission ring: suggested retail $830, wholesale $665, a 60% margin ring, and a cost breakdown of materials, labour and overhead.

“Sold it for less than the silver cost.”

“Two evenings at the kitchen table for one quote.”

“What would you charge for this?” …long pause.

It doesn’t have to work that way. Every Piece watches the clock and the costs while you work — so the price is ready when the piece is.

How it works

Three steps between the bench and the price.

01

Start the timer, pick up your saw

Real bench hours, not guesses. The timer runs while you work and pauses when you do — labour cost accrues on its own.

Add materials as you go

Silver by the gram, stones, findings — the cost updates as you add them, at today’s metal prices, with your scrap loss built in.

Get a price you can defend

Materials, labour, overhead, margin — the full breakdown, never a black box. Then quote it or invoice it in two taps.

Before you say a price out loud, Every Piece shows what it really pays per hour at the bench — after materials and overhead, after the gallery’s cut, after the friendly discount. No lecture, just the number, before you commit to it.

For lapidaries

Cut your own stones? Priced properly at last.

Rough cost, cutting time, consumables — the lapidary work finally counts. Every Piece prices a self-cut stone the way you’d price the rest of the piece: honestly. No mainstream pricing tool does this.

Quotes & invoices

Paperwork that looks as good as the piece.

Professional PDF quotes and invoices with GST and PST on their own lines, deposits requested and credited, and your terms at the bottom — sent from your phone before you’ve taken off your apron. A quote takes minutes, not an evening at the kitchen table.

The story

Built at the bench, not in a boardroom.

I didn’t set out to build jewellery software. I was trying to answer one deceptively hard question: what should I charge? Like a lot of independent jewellers, I knew I was undercharging — not because the work lacked value, but because its true cost was scattered across bench hours, materials, overhead, and a hundred small decisions I never wrote down.

As a neurodivergent maker, I also needed something that carried the mental load of keeping several pieces moving at once — simple enough to use mid-solder, thorough enough to trust. So I built a timer and a pricing calculator for my own bench. Then the studio kept shaping it: material costing, project tracking, photos, customers, quotes and invoices, all in one place.

That small tool became Behind Every Piece — built by a jeweller, for jewellers. It exists to make the invisible work visible, take the anxiety out of pricing, and help makers charge for the time, skill and care behind every piece.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Do I need to be good with numbers?+

No. Every Piece comes with guided defaults — a sensible labour rate, overhead and markups to start from. If you know your numbers, you can override everything.

Does it work offline?+

Yes. It’s built for the bench, where signal is optional. Everything works offline; it syncs up when you’re back online.

Is it in the App Store?+

No store needed. Open the app in your phone’s browser and add it to your home screen — it installs from there and works like any other app.

Can I get my data out?+

Always. One tap exports a full backup of everything — projects, hours, materials, photos, documents. Your data is yours; there’s no lock-in.

CAD or USD?+

Both. Every Piece is built in Canada and defaults to CAD; switch to USD in settings.

What does it cost?+

It’s free while we settle pricing with our first testers. It’ll be priced for a solo studio — and you’ll always see the price before you pay anything.
